CREW Calgary plans a networking event today to encourage women as leaders

Mario ToneguzziA unique networking and professional development group in Calgary is supporting women and their career choice in the commercial real estate industry.

CREW Calgary is the networking organization of choice for professional women in commercial real estate. It was founded as a non-profit society in 2005 and is the fourth of a growing number of Canadian chapters of the worldwide organization, CREW Network.

“We bring women together to build professional and personal relationships, expand industry knowledge and expertise, and support the development of commercial real estate,” says Michelle Pink, senior consultant with AEC Property Tax Inc. and a member of the board with CREW Calgary.

The organization has a networking event planned today in Calgary.

Pink says the organization has just over 10,000 members worldwide, mostly in North America.

In Calgary, there are 128 members and Pink says that number could climb to about 140 by the end of this year.

Membership, which also includes men, is diverse and represents a wide variety of disciplines. Those include appraisers, architects, lawyers, developers, environmental consultants, interior designers, lenders, property managers, regional marketers, sales and leasing agents, and insurance providers.

“It was really started as a place to promote and support women as leaders specifically in the commercial real estate industry and a place to network and to advance achievement in women,” says Pink.
